Total Commander is the most robust and functional file manager. Old-timers probably remember the older versions, and after its release, it quickly gained the trust of its users. Now I'd like to introduce its updated version and briefly discuss its capabilities, as not everyone knows what it's for or how to use it. Its most important distinction from similar programs is its built-in utilities, which allow you to view multimedia, graphics, and unpack archives. Its functionality is easily expanded thanks to the vast number of plugins available online. In fact, using them, you can perfectly customize it to suit your needs, which is what I appreciate about it; frankly, I wasn't particularly fond of it in its original form.
Equally important is the program's full-featured FTP client, which can even work through a proxy. Furthermore, it can be configured to connect to FTP at a time you prefer, meaning it can run on a schedule. Of course, it also allows you to download and upload files, just like a standard client. All these operations can be performed using an SSL/TLS connection. It can also be used to compare folders and files, which is a truly useful feature.
